A&J’s Premium Ice Cream Co. Ltd

A&J’s is a family company determined to produce the best and most unique ice cream flavors possible. The business began very simply with just a table and a cooler to sell ice cream from. Since its inception, we have grown from strength to strength with a shop front and over 78 unique flavors to choose from. We are a very innovative company with an aim to always improve our systems and products.

We manufacture and resell premium ice cream. We carry over 78 unique flavors which consist of sugar free, dairy free and seasonal flavors.

Ice Cream is a very high profit business with premium ice cream being no exception. We have seen growth during the pandemic and believe that once the business is steered correctly, this will continue and increase. Based on research, ice cream is a product that is not usually adversely affected by downturns in economies or even pandemics. Our aim is to become a household name within Trinidad and Tobago and the wider Caribbean region. With this in mind, we will be branching out and creating additional locations and well as mobile units within the near future.

Nicole Rostant

A3 Farms Limited

We started the company with TT$300 which was used to buy a box of bananas. After making a profit, we decided to do frozen breadfruit as no one else was doing it in the market. That then developed to three other frozen lines cassava, eddoes and sweet potato which were supplied to various supermarkets and green grocers . This was the start of our true vision of using renewable energy to grow crops 365 days a year.

We sell frozen vacuum sealed breadfruit and ground provisions. We believe that the ability to feed oneself as a Caribbean nation, is needed to reduce costly food importation and allow the revenue to benefit its own people.

Andrew Bisnath

Jameel Phillip

Green Thumb Gardens

At Green Thumb Gardens we provide a service that allows our clients to produce food for themselves and their households in a safe and sustainable way. Due to recently fallen oil prices and the country’s heavy reliance on oil and gas, the focus on food production should be the top priority of every home. As there is a lot of imported food in the market it shows that we are at risk of running out of food if the oil industry fails and the country does not have enough money to import; while local production cannot meet the demand. Providing homes, schools and businesses with the services, tools and education to produce their own food sustainably, would ensure that they never become at risk of not having any food.

We design, install and maintain kitchen gardens and food production systems in any space.

In the upcoming years we plan to roll out our School Garden Initiative which was halted by COVID and develop more community gardens.

Jeanette R Marcelle

Suncoast Farms

Suncoast Farms was formed initially as an Agri management company for large scale pepper production. We uncovered an old rabbitry and immediately went ahead to operationalize it. Our research indicated that the market never had a stable supply to ensure demand is met and the health benefits of rabbit meat never properly marketed. Currently we have a breeding stock of 500 plus rabbits and provide rabbit meat to a select few meat shops. Our desire is to provide within early 2021 rabbit meat to the 4 main supermarket chains, namely Massy Stores, Tru Valu, Extra Foods and JTA.

We strive to provide local rabbit meat with no hormones or steroids. We believe our operations have the ability to grow into a regional name for rabbit meat serving the hotel industry across the Caribbean. Most hotels across the other Islands have a large European tourist market that has a huge appetite for rabbit meat. Lastly the current administration via the Ministry of Agriculture has lent support to this project with leasehold land and agricultural incentives. We look forward to further conversations.

Shauna Grant & Sharlene Lewis

The Flour Bag Baking Company Ltd

The Flour Bag Baking Company began as an experiment in consuming a gluten free diet in order to improve my mom’s health. After she experienced relief in her symptoms and reflecting on the amount of effort we invested into getting gluten free baked goods right, my family decided to explore the possibility of making this into a thriving business. We incorporated the business in 2018, but developed our line of gluten free mixes at the end of 2019. We now have 3 products on the market and have sold over 300 units in less than 1 year.

We sell gluten free baking mixes that take the guesswork and expense out of gluten free baking at home. These mixes include an Original Pancake & Waffle Mix, a Herbs & Spices Pancake & Waffle Mix and a Home-style Bread Mix.

We plan to officially launch our latest addition to our product line, our Gluten Free Home-style Bread Mix in time for the Christmas season, with plans to expand the line by launching 3 new products next year. The gluten free market has seen steady growth internationally with consumers looking for healthier eating options, so we are confident that our locally produced mixes can rival imported brands in quality and taste and that we can adequately supply the growing need of local market.

What started out as a personal indulgence turned into a fund raiser and has since blossomed into a full fledged, registered small business, with a product that has been retailed at local gourmet stores, a restaurant, a dessert parlor, a gift and book shop and even a large pharmacy chain. Still, the main source of sales for Yummazing Creamery is direct customer orders.

We produce and sell real Greek yogurt in seven variants (pineapple, coconut, soursop, cherry, almond, prune and plain unsweetened). No preservative or thickeners are added in the making of this rich and creamy yogurt which comes in a standard 8oz. tub with other sizes available upon request.

There is currently untapped demand for our product and as such we are poised for expansion.
