Lucyann Henry, a highly accomplished Chartered Accountant, has been making a significant impact as a mentor with the Youth Business Trinidad and Tobago (YBTT) program. With years of experience running her own accounting and auditing services practice and working with prestigious companies such as PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Lucyann’s skill set is further enhanced by her proficiency in strategic planning and change management, making her a well-rounded professional.
But it’s Lucyann’s desire to give back to young people that has been the biggest influence in her decision to become a mentor with YBTT. As an entrepreneur since 2007, Lucyann has learned through trial and error and wants to help the younger generation avoid or better navigate the pitfalls she faced on her entrepreneurial journey. She found that YBTT had the right structure in place to facilitate her desire to be a mentor, and she is excited to be a positive force in the development of young entrepreneurs.
To Lucyann, being a mentor means giving guidance and support to help her mentees reach their full potential and excel. She sees herself as a nurturing figure who helps her mentees develop their skills and abilities to become the best version of themselves.
Lucyann’s mentorship experience at YBTT has been transformative, thanks to the program’s support and resources. The mentorship training has allowed her to shift her perspective on the role of a mentor, from simply instructing and teaching to supporting and guiding her mentees to achieve their goals. She appreciates the continuous support and opportunities for growth that YBTT offers to its members and is grateful to be a part of this community.
For mentees, Lucyann encourages them to remember that it’s okay to stumble and make mistakes. They are all part of the learning process. Keep pushing yourself out of your comfort zones, and don’t be afraid to ask for help or guidance when needed. Just remember that there’s no set timeline for success, so keep focusing on your own journey and progress. Believe in yourself, stay positive, and always keep moving forward.
To her fellow colleagues, Lucyann urges them to join her in giving back. Witnessing the success of those we mentor is comparable to the pride of a parent watching their child thrive. So let’s inject our energy into the success of future generations and feel fulfilled in doing so.
Lucyann Henry’s journey as a mentor with YBTT is a testament to the impact that mentoring can have on young entrepreneurs. Her dedication to helping young people reach their full potential is inspiring and serves as an example to us all.
